Last year, Gov. Deval Patrick signed Nonprofift Awareness Day into law and officiallhy recognized it as anannual event, celebrated on the second Monday in June to underscore the fact that nonprofitd account for 14 percent of Massachusetts’ work force. The Massachusettz Nonprofit Network is a statewide association of nonprofit organizationsz that support the nonprofit sectorthrough advocacy, publifc awareness and capacity building. Established in the Nonprofit Network has grown to more than500 members.
The Awardss were judged by Laurie Dopkins, Senior Research Associate, Program Coordinator, Northeastern University Schoo ofSocial Science; Donna Haig Friedman, Centedr Director and Research Associate Professor, Universityh of Massachusetts Boston; Kristen McCormack, Executive-in-Residence, Lecturer, Facultyg Director, Boston University Public and Nonprofiy Management Program; Melissa Morriss-Olson, Graduate School Dean, Professor of Nonprofit Managemenf and Philanthropy, Bay Path College. The Nonprofit Excellence Awarr winners were selected from more than 110 applications in 7 andthey include: Nonprofit Young Professionak Award: Meghan Trombly of Strong Women, Strong Girls.
